We are delighted to announce that Prof. GiovanniMaria Piccini has been awarded the 2026 EuChemS Walter Thiel Award in Computational and Theoretical Chemistry.

Presented by the Division of Computational and Theoretical Chemistry of EuChemS – the European Chemical Society – the award recognises outstanding scientific contributions to the field. Prof. Piccini is the first Italian scientist to receive this prestigious distinction.

The award ceremony will take place during the European Conference on Computational and Theoretical Chemistry, to be held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in September 2027, where Prof. Piccini will deliver a plenary lecture on his research.

This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our group and the invaluable contributions of our students, collaborators, colleagues, and mentors. We sincerely thank the EuChemS Division of Computational and Theoretical Chemistry for this tremendous honour and the Division of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society for supporting the nomination.
